Farewell to Ms
Majola-Pikoli, Deputy Director-General NIA
|
|
Ms Majola-Pikoli joined the National Intelligence Agency in January 2000. Before joining NIA, she was involved in the transformation of the public service as Chief Director in the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA). She also served briefly as Chief Director in the Department of Minerals and Energy.
Before working in Government, “Sis Girly” had served as an ANC Member of Parliament in1994 to 1996. This followed her devoted work in various positions and committees within the ANC and its Women’s League dating back from 1990 - when she returned to the country after 8 years of exile.
Throughout her tenure at NIA, she has championed the cause of women in the Intelligence community, highlighting the need to address concerns of gender representivity at all levels. She is the force behind the convening of the Security Cluster’s Gender Forum in 2004. It is for such tireless efforts that she was awarded the Intelligence Services’ Annual Women’s Day Award.
While she was passionate about training and development for women, she was also wary to sensitise the services to issues affecting the position of women in the family and society.
Her contribution National Intelligence Agency is truly valued.
